What is Pilates?
Pilates is a system of over 500 controlled exercises developed by Joseph Pilates over 90 years ago. These exercises engage the mind and condition the total body. Such movements include flexion, extension, rotation, and lateral flexion. Pilates exercises strengthen and lengthen together with each movement. By using the "powerhouse" or "core", the abdominal area acts as stabilizers for each exercise.
